The King of B Flms

The great Roger Corman was one of the best at giving the world some of the best B-rated films, that are recognized as one of the best in cinema. His films have been turned into musicals or TV Shows.

The Original Little Shop of Horror film from the 1960
That Inspired the off-Broadway musical

There's something about Roger's directing and Acting work that strikes people as charming and fascinating. His Great ideas and imagination, make people excited about the next film he will make, and what he has in store for the audience. But he was also excited about people looking at his work as inspiration for their own work. From filmmakers to producers, Roger was the leading figure.

The off-Broadway of the original film was so good, it was made into a blockbuster movie Musical in the late1980s.

Not only has his work been influential, to say the least, but the people he worked with during the films he would direct or work with made it special. From Up-and-coming actors to well-established actors. From Jack Nicholson to the great Vincent Price. Everyone who worked on a Roger Corman film went on to bigger and more recognizable work in Hollywood.

He has produced over 491 films and directed 56 films throughout his Hollywood career. He made his first couple of films with little to almost no money and had a lot of creativity, with little time or days to film them.  The end results in iconic films, that film historians, fans, and critics alike cherish. Roger made it with heart, curiosity, and excitement.

The Famous Roger/Poe film Era Was the Groundbreaking work of Roger Corman
Using famous horror stories and poems from Edgar Allen Poe.

His best-known collaboration is the great Corman/Poe era. From The Fall of the House of Usher to my personal favorite The Raven. Each film starred the famous Vincent Price as the main lead in these films. Each work of Poe's story was given a Roger Corman's touch. The films capture the descriptions Poe put in his stories or poems and add a little bit of flair to them.

In The Raven: Vincent Price's Dr. Cravin is on a mission to help change Dr. Beldo (Played by Peter Lorre) Back into a human again. In comedic misstep assumed in the film. Very lighthearted compared to other Poe/ Corman films.

But let's not forget that Mr. Corman also was a good actor and starred in several blockbusters and some indie films throughout his time. His most notable role was in the 1991 horror classic "The Silence of the Lambs" As FBI Director Hayden Burke. He was also in The Godfather Part 2, The Practice, and other TV shows and films.

He played Several characters in his lifetime, But his role in the Oscar-winning film " The Silence of the Lamb" as FBI Director Hayden Burke

Mr. Corman Left this Beautiful earth at the age of 98. He left a lasting mark in many horror movies, Sci-fi, and Fantasy films and inspired countless young filmmakers and producers. He knew that his work was loved and his imagination was what made him unique and full of excitement.  The Biggest reward any filmmaker can have is to know that their work can connect to thousands of fans and critics alike, and he got that times 100. He was loved and will be forever missed by countless film fans! God Speed Good sir.

Roger Cormen ( 1926-2024) Truly one of a Kind !! Rest in POWER!!
